Racism and Health: Findings, Questions and Directions

"Dr. David R. Williams, (Florence Sprague Norman and Laura Smart Norman Professor of Public Health (Harvard School of Public Health and Professor of African and African American Studies at Harvard University), presented "Racism and Health: Findings, Questions and Directions" at UMass Amherst on Mar.5, 2013. Dr. Williams' lecture draws from years of research. He provides an overview of his findings and strategies going forward. The lecture should be viewed in its entirety. Last month, Dr. Williams received the Stephen Smith Award for Distinguished Contributions in Public Health from the New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Williams is a native of St. Lucia and a graduate of the University of the Southern Caribbean - Class of 1976. He was also partially educated in Barbados prior to college, and is a practicing second generation Seventh-day Adventist Christian.
